Our Hens

Our mobile egg units (AKA The Thunderbirds), safely house 230 free-range hens, following our cattle around to provide fresh grazing and plenty to forage.

As a result, our ladies produce some of the finest, nutrient dense eggs available on the market, which are collected daily and delivered fresh to your door.

The eggs vary in size and colour thanks to the variety of different breeds that we have carefully selected, including Leghorns, Cheshire Blues, White Stars and Marans.

Animal welfare is always our number one priority, we strongly believe that this system offers our hens a more natural and enjoyable lifestyle, as they are free to roam from morning until night, safely protected by the nearby cattle.

On an evening, they make their own way into their mobile home through automatic pops, which close when night falls to protect them from predators and the elements. This allows them to lay in the nest boxes on a morning before venturing back outside to explore.

We check on our girls every day and move them around our mob grazing system every 2-3 days to keep things fresh and exciting, as they get to enjoy lots of different natural habitats, including woodland, wide open spaces, dust baths and areas for scratching.
